I had a great time speaking at the University of Texas at Arlington on the panel "Drawn to Extremes: Cartoonists in the Digital Age". It was an honor to share the stage with Bill DeOre, award-winning editorial cartoonist for The Dallas Morning News for 35 years, Ed Owens-reporter and cartoonist, and William "Bubba" Flint-cartoonist for the Dallas Morning News and Dallas Cowboys. Thanks to Samantha Dodd (special collections archivist) for having me on the panel!
If an audience member participated or asked questions, I threw candy at them. Because that's what we all really want out of life, isn't it?
It was also a treat to get to see the Etta Hulme exhibit in the Special Collections library. Gifted to the University from the Hulme family, this collection consists of over ten thousand original cartoons, sketches, and other artwork.
I have good news-I'm the newest member of the Texas Chapter of the National Cartoonists Society.

The group is made up of comic strip writers and artists, political cartoonists, animators, film makers, and more. They host cartoon-related events in the state, and offer consultations with cartoonists about projects. The NCS/Texas Chapter has a speaker program where members talk about inspiration and insight into the world of cartoon art. They participate in charity "Cartooning with Kids" events, and much more.

I'm excited to start working with the group in 2018. I'll keep you guys posted!
Join me this Thursday, September 21, from 9-11 pm on The Texas Newsroom with hosts Ben Tinsley, Shane Clendening, and Rachel Totten Keith on the Fishbowl Radio Network. I'll be singing and playing harp, and talking about my comic strip, Glitterville. It's a call-in show, so feel free to say hello! 214-431-5062
Note-Portions of the show were not kid-friendly!
If you can't catch it live, here's a link to the filmed podcast:
